Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
This passage offers a simple picture of what living a Christian life looks like. It means that people who simply observe you can see Christ working through you. This is of course is something that can more easily said than done. It is so easy to fall into errors on either side of one the one had assuming that these light is something we manufacture ourselves rather than letting God work through for His own glory or on the other hand assume that we can be entirely passive. Rather we are called to simply step forth in faith and trust that God will make us shine.
